My Journey

My journey like many of us, can be seen as one of overcoming. It can be so hard to see the light when our days are shrouded with darkness and struggles, I know, but it’s those experiences that build us the most. My childhood had addiction, and violence. My relationships had mental and physical abuse. Tragedy after tragedy, loss after loss right. Even my health came with many struggles I didn’t understand……. However, what I also had, was gratitude, and love, taught to me by a couple amazing individuals!

My mom has always been one of the bravest people I know. Leading by example she taught us how to be brave, humble, and always appreciate everything we had, and not to dwell on the things we didn’t. Reminding us regularly that there were many out there with nothing. My grandfather, who taught us that even after the devastations of WW2, we can still have humor, joy, and appreciation for all things. Mostly though he taught us all how to smile and laugh, even in the worst of times. My stepdad, who taught me that I was worthy of a father’s love. Always showing me patience and kindness. Even my little wiener dog who suffered horribly with Degenerative disk disease but somehow was always still so joyful, and full of life. Even through the worst of her pain, she would do anything to make someone smile!

I believe we are all worthy of happiness, love, and good health! The path set in front of us, can be, and is shaped by our hearts and determination. We get to decide that every day! I have suffered like most with many health concerns, and injuries due to genetic conditions that run in my family, affecting my skin, digestion, and joints quite severely. I know how defeating that can be. Over the years however, like everything else, I’ve learned to overcome those things, and you can too!
